I'm so excited to announce the unveiling of the new Heavenly Bites website! I've been working on this for the past few months, so it's great to finally get it out there for everyone to see...my favorite part is The Mixing Bowl - this is the place to go when you're not sure what flavor combinations go best - we've got recommendations on both traditional AND unique frostings and fillings to go with the cake flavor you want!
Hope you enjoy!
Coming up this weekend is a Curious George cake for a 1st birthday party

Roary the Racing Car
This weekend, I was asked to make a replica of Roary the Racing car for a 4th birthday party for birthday boy Jack! The cake was vanilla with chocolate frosting and filling - even the wheels were made of cake!
The cake was delivered to The Candy Shoppe in Hoboken, NJ - such an awesome location for a birthday party, or just to satisfy your sweet tooth! There are shelves and shelves of old school jars filled with all types of candy. I was in awe when I walked in the door, so I can only imagine what it must look like through the eyes of the kids who were there for the party!

Birthday Pre-Paris
My sister turned 29 last week and is planning to go to Paris for the first time with our cousins soon - for her birthday I made this little cake highlighting some famous sights she'll see when she gets there!
The trees and sky were handpainted with edible pearl dust and the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and Eiffel Tower were hand-cut from fondant and detailed in edible ink.
The cake was moist devils food cake with chocolate buttercream - we're total choco-holics in our family! This was a really fun cake that I made about an hour before our family dinner - I was so excited to have the idea in my head come out so quickly on the cake!
Christening Cupcakes
My sweet nephew Jake was baptized this past weekend and I was thrilled to make the cupcakes for his party! They were a mix of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting (in blue and white). The little discs and crosses on top were made of fondant and his initials were piped in chocolate buttercream.
Coming up in the next few weeks: a Roary the Car cake, a Curious George cake, tennis cupcakes for a benefit for the homeless and superhero sugar cookie favors!

A New Year, a New Decade and a new year of celebrations to look forward to!
Happy New Year and New Decade to everyone! Can't believe it's 2010!
Heavenly Bites is off and running this year with a Baby Shower cake already completed this past weekend, cupcakes for my nephew's christening next weekend and participating in my first charity event!
First, the cake for the baby shower this past weekend was for a red-headed mom-to-be who has an adorable pointer dog - her sister-in-law commissioned the cake for her shower. Inside was red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and frosting. The fondant was a pale green, with yellow, white and brown polka dots...the mom-to-be sat on top next to her little pup!
They sent me a picture of the mom-to-be with her sweet dog next to the cake all set up for the party - what a great shot!! I didn't want to put the picture up without permission, but it was a great one! I love seeing people with their cakes! :)
Stay tuned for next week's christening cupcakes and more information on the charity event Heavenly Bites will be participating in - looking forward to a fun new year filled with sweet memories and sweet cake! :)
