Yankee Stadium Grooms Cake

This Yankee Stadium Grooms Cake was so much fun to make! The cake was ordered by the bride-to-be, Tara for her husband-to-be, Rosario. She had reached out to me over a year before the wedding with her idea and I was so thrilled to be able to make this cake for them! (I really love the ideas that brides and grooms come up with to surprise each other on their special day - it's so sweet!)

The cake itself was a s'mores cake - seriously yummy stuff! Graham cracker cake, marshmallow fluff filling and chocolate buttercream...oooh so heavenly! The cake was only for 30 people, so the whole top tier of the stadium was fashioned out of rice treats and covered with fondant. The colorful "fans" in the stands were made of round sprinkles, even the bleacher creatures are hanging out in their spot in right field! :)

Here is a birds eye view of the stadium:

Wishing Tara and Rosario all the happiness in the world as they start their life together as husband and wife!!

Best,

Tara

Yankee Hat Grooms Cake

A sweet bride, Kati, ordered this Yankee themed grooms cake for her now-husband Tom to be served at their wedding reception as a surprise! So sweet! The hat and bat were both red velvet cake with vanilla frosting, sculpted and covered with fondant. The bat was hand-painted to get the wood-grain effect...such a fun cake to work on!

I was so excited with this cake, as it was my first attempt at a baseball hat cake. My husband gave me the best complement when he told me that when he opened the fridge that morning, for a few seconds he wondered why his Yankee hat was in there! YES!! Thanks dawl! ;)

The cake was delivered to David's Country Inn in Hackettstown, NJ.  All the best to you Tom & Kati - so excited for you guys!

Fall, Football & Vows

This NY Giants jersey themed grooms cake was commissioned by a bride as a surprise for her soon-to-be husband at their rehearsal dinner this past weekend.  Inside was a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling - his favorite!

It was decorated to look like a football jersey, with the couple's last name across the top, the NY Giants logo in the center and a mini-football on top. Lying in a bed of fall leaves to denote the season, this cake was really fun to make!

Making the leaves was a fun project - they are made of fondant and I got the colors by mixing different colors together and rolling them out while they still had a tie-dyed look, rather than fully mixed together. Leaf cut-outs and my newly discovered favorite decorating tool - veiner molds - really brought them to life! My favorite leaf is the dark maroon colored one in the front! :)
