One of my dear friends, Erin (who I've known since we met in gymnastics class at the age of 3!!) asked me to make cupcakes for her daughter Bridget's 7th birthday party - I was so psyched to do these!!
She requested vanilla cupcakes with hot pink vanilla buttercream and sprinkles. The best part was when she came to pick them up, Bridget came too and I was so happy to see she loved the cupcakes so much that she wanted to eat hers right then and there!!
Happy Birthday Bridget!! I hope your party was fantastic!!!

Happy Birthday to my mom!!
This cake was made for my mom who turned 60 on July 6th. She's such an amazing person and has been such a fantastic mom - I can only hope to be as great a mom as she has been to me, my brother and sister!!
She's spent the last 20-ish years working in the newspaper business as an Art Director (first for the Staten Island Advance and then for the Wall Street Journal). She retired from the Wall Street Journal at the end of June and on her birthday she started her own blog called "The Daily Suse" where she shares fabulous ideas for decorating, traveling, books, history, and sweet and simple arts and crafts projects that could be used for gifts or even for your own use! It's updated every day, so there's always something new to learn!
Any slight bit of creativity I have comes from my mom and all the fun arts and crafts projects we did growing up, and I'm so grateful! :) So for her 60th, I was so excited to make her this cake:
The top tier was vanilla cake, with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream (my mom's favorite!). The bottom tier was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling and frosting. The decorations on the cake are a Wall Street Journal newspaper and her Mac computer, highlighting her new blog!!
Happy Birthday Mom!! I love you and thank you for everything you've done for me and all you've taught me - you are the best!!!!!!!!!!

Fireworks!
For the 4th of July, I received a cake order from the mom and sister of a friend of mine, Meghan. They and her husband were throwing her a surprise 30th birthday party a few weeks prior to her birthday so that she'd be really surprised!
Since the party was on the 4th of July, the cake followed the theme of stars and stripes too and even had some fireworks on there as well!
The top tier of the cake was a moist banana cake with nutella filling and vanilla bean buttercream. The bottom tier was a chocolate expresso cake with cannoli filling and vanilla bean buttercream.
When I arrived to deliver the cake, there was excitement in the air and the family was gathering to make "Surprise" signs for Meghan's arrival - it looked like an awesome party was about to happen! Happy Birthday Meghan - hope it was an awesome day!

On the prowl...
Grrrrrowl!! Hot stuff this weekend at Heavenly Bites and I'm not just talking about this ridiculous heat we're having here in NY!! I received an order for a leopard print birthday cake and was so excited to do my first animal print cake! All the spots were handpainted on the fondant - I love the effect!
The cake was a delectable devils food with chocolate expresso filling and frosting. I received a facebook comment from the daughter of the person who this cake was for and was so excited to hear that she loved the cake! "thank you for the leopard cake, it was for my mom...it was great and it made her so happy..." The best words a cake decorator could hear! :)

Last weekend at Heavenly Bites Cakes I had the pleasure of making dueling football helmets for a daughter and dad - Molly was celebrating her high school graduation and upcoming freshman year at Ohio State and her dad Kevin (a huge Washington Redskins fan) was celebrating his 50th birthday!
Now, I know Ohio State and the Washington Redskins will probably never actually duel each other on the football field, but at this graduation/birthday celebration, all bets were off! :)
The Ohio State football helmet was made of red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting:
The Washington Redskins football helmet was made with vanilla caramel cake and chocolate filling & frosting:
Wishing Molly an awesome college experience and wishing Kevin an amazing 50th birthday!!
